Putin’s party completely dominates Russia’s regional elections /

Gubernatorial elections were held in 21 of Russia’s regions, and 20 of them were won by the candidates nominated by “United Russia”, but in the Aizbaikal region, where the ruling party did not nominate its candidate, the “independent” candidate supported by the Kremlin won.

As found by the “Golos” organization for the protection of voters’ rights, there was no real competition in any of the districts.

In the Khabarovsk region, where the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) founded by the late Vladimir Zhirinovsky was in power for several years, the candidate nominated by “United Russia” also won, for whom 81% of the voters voted.

In two more regions – the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region and Ingushetia – regional leaders were elected by local members of parliament. In both regions, out of the three candidates proposed by dictator Vladimir Putin, the deputies chose representatives of “United Russia”.

All 45 seats in the Moscow City Council were won by candidates selected by the authorities. Among them are 38 representatives of “United Russia”, three communists and two “independents”. The parties loyal to the Kremlin “Just Russia” and “Young People” won one more mandate each.

Also in the legislative assembly of the Krasnoyarsk region, where the LDPR previously had a majority, “United Russia” will now dominate, having won more than 45% according to party lists and won at least 18 of the 24 single-mandate districts.

At the same time as the regional elections, State Duma by-elections were held in Khakassia, as well as in Bryansk and Rostov regions for the seats of deputies who resigned their mandates for various reasons. Two “United Russia” candidates and the “independent” candidate – former Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov – won these elections.

The highest electoral turnout was recorded in Bryansk region, where 69.2% of voters went to the polls, and the lowest in Khakassia – 31.1%.

In Moscow, 41% of citizens took part in the elections, the majority of whom, or 95.5%, voted remotely. Only 142,000 Muscovites voted at the polling stations.

Despite the fact that the elections in Russia have long since turned into a show with a predetermined outcome, the only task of which is to once again confirm the legitimacy of Putin’s dictatorship, election observers have recorded massive violations in various regions, including the organized bringing of voters to the polling stations, the so-called carousels, or multiple voting and voter bribing.

Even communists and liberal democrats loyal to the totalitarian regime lament the violations.
