/ The Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Iraq is among Russia’s main partners in the field of information security.

Artur Lukmanov said in statements reported by RT that Moscow is noticing a growing interest in many Middle Eastern countries in Russia’s experience in the field of information security.

Lyukmanov, who also serves as Director of the International Information Security Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stressed that cooperation with countries in the region in this area will inevitably be strengthened.

The diplomat pointed out that Russia’s main partners in the Middle East in the field of information security are Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Algeria.

According to him, there is a continuous exchange of views on information security, through multilateral platforms, with Lebanon, Jordan, Libya, Qatar, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

“We are noticing a growing interest in our experience and developments. Naturally, we will only encourage this interest and strengthen cooperation with these countries,” Lukmanov added.

Lyukmanov noted that the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean see the danger of relying on Western information security technologies, and are closely monitoring the cooperation of a number of their neighbors with Russia.

According to him, Russia is already working closely with some countries in the region in this area. Among these countries, the Russian diplomat specifically mentioned Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, as well as Brazil, with which there is “mutual understanding and a desire to move towards concluding bilateral agreements.”
