By emphasizing that in a single weekend there were 11 murders and that so far in 2024, the figures refer to 520 murders on the Chiapas Coast and municipalities such as Tapachula, Suchiate and Tuxtla Gutiérrez; the senator of Green Environmental Party of Mexico(PVEM), Luis Armando Melgar, demanded the governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón, to act immediately and stop denying the situation of violence.
“It is not the media that distorts reality, Governor Escandón, it is the reality that is distorted by interests that are convenient,” said Melgar.

The legislator mourned the death of Abraham González, a young bank manager who was murdered in the municipality of Copainalá. “We want justice for Abraham and for all the people of Chiapas who live in fear. Security cannot continue to be a broken promise, Chiapas is bleeding. We demand a safe Chiapas,” he added.
He noted that while families “mourn their dead, the authorities have not yet managed to stop this bloodshed. How many more? How many more lives must be sacrificed before real change is seen? “Impunity is the true enemy, and as long as it continues to prevail, Chiapas will continue to be hostage to violence.”
For this reason, Melgar demanded that the Chiapas authorities act “strongly and without excuses…we Chiapas deserve to live in peace. No more empty promises, no more excuses.”
