Pyeongtaek City (Mayor Jeong Jang-seon) announced that it has explained the achievements of the past two years and the policy direction for the remaining two years to local journalists on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the 8th local government election.

The city explained that the region’s industrial competitiveness has been strengthened over the past two years based on the semiconductor and hydrogen industries, and that recent achievements have also been made in the future automobile sector, and that the regional economy is being revitalized centered on future cutting-edge industries.

He also said that the city’s living conditions are improving through various housing development projects such as Godeok International New Town, Brain City, and Hwayang District, as well as the creation of Mosan, Eunsil, and Jisan Green Parks including Cheongbuk Sky Blue Lake Park, and that the quality of life for citizens is also improving through the strengthening of transportation, culture, medical, and welfare infrastructure.

With these achievements, Pyeongtaek City was selected as ‘No. 1 in the Basic Local Government Brand Reputation of the Republic of Korea’, ‘No. 2 in the Korean Local Autonomy Competitiveness Index’, and ‘Excellent Institution in the Comprehensive Evaluation of Cities and Counties in Gyeonggi Province’, and is consistently ranked as a city with a growing population, the youngest city in the metropolitan area, and a city with high marriage and birth rates, while standing out in various statistical indicators.

Pyeongtaek City plans to make every effort to improve areas closely related to the lives of citizens, such as economy, balanced development, environment, education, welfare, and culture, during the remaining term of the 8th local government, and create a ‘prosperous Pyeongtaek.’

First, in the △economic sector, Pyeongtaek City plans to attract additional corporate investment in the key industries of semiconductors, hydrogen, and future automobiles, and to attract related educational institutions and public institutions.
