Pyotr Nesterov and Adrian Andreev were eliminated in the first round of the “Challenger” red court tennis tournament in Verona (Italy) with a prize fund of 120,950 euros.

Nesterov lost 3:6, 4:6 to the home representative Federico Arnaboldi. The match between the two qualifiers lasted 99 minutes.

The Bulgarian international started with a break, but Arnaboldi then took five of the next six games to reverse the first set. Nesterov started the second part well and led 3:1, but the Italian quickly caught up, and with a key break in the ninth game secured the victory.

For his participation, Nesterov earned 4 points for the world ranking and 1200 euros from the prize fund.

Adrian Andreev withdrew due to a physical problem after losing 1:6 the first set of his match against former world number 16 Nikoloz Basilashvili (Georgia). The qualifier Basilashvili, who currently occupies the 443rd place in the ATP ranking, took the first five games, and subsequently, before the start of the second part, the Sofia native decided to stop participating in the match.

Andreev also earned 1,200 euros, but will not add points to his asset for the world ranking, in which he occupies the 222nd position.
