/ The Syrian national team received a severe blow before facing Iran next Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Asian Football Cup held in Qatar.

The Syrian Football Association said in a statement published on its Facebook account that striker Omar Khribin was injured and did not participate in training yesterday, Friday.

The Federation explained that Khribin felt pain in his left leg, and the extent of the injury will be determined after an MRI scan is performed tomorrow, Saturday, to determine the duration of the player’s absence.

Khribin scored Syria’s winning goal against India (1-0) in the third and final round of the group stage, leading the “Qasioun Eagles” to qualify for the round of 16 of the Asian Cup for the first time in their history.

Ammar Ramadan was also absent from the Syrian national team training yesterday, Thursday, due to a bruise he sustained in his left foot during the India match, as well as Omar Midani, who needs about 4 weeks of rest, treatment and rehabilitation to recover from the injury he sustained earlier.
