“The French team is full of great players and has a high-calibre coach. The players are eager to play this semi-final and secure a ticket to the final,” he said during a press briefing held with midfielder Ilyas Chair.
The national team continues its journey in Qatar with the same desire to win, he said, noting that “we have not tired ourselves” and that “the players are still hungry.”
“We are confident in our talents and physical and mental abilities to beat the world champion and write a new page in the history of the World Cup,” he said.
“The dream of winning the World Cup grows day by day. We are determined to create a surprise and reach the final,” he said.
“The national team will not be satisfied with reaching the last four. We must change mentalities,” he insisted, noting that Morocco will play on Wednesday for Africa and the Arab world.
Regarding injuries within the national team, Regragui stressed that the Atlas Lions’ bench has players who can replace any absentees, noting that all players are ready to play against France.
“We are not going to change our strategy against France. We are going to run and press the opponent, as we have already done,” he added.
For his part, Ilyas Chair noted that the players are determined to play a great match against France, highlighting the team spirit that prevails within the Atlas Lions.
He believed that the presence of the Moroccan public at the stadium will encourage the players to give their all against a team that is a candidate for the final victory.
After highlighting the human qualities of the national coach, he affirmed that the players have a special relationship with Regragui and are confident in their ability to reach the final.
The semi-final between Morocco and France will be played on Wednesday evening (8:00 p.m.) at the El Beyt stadium in Al Khor.
In the quarter-finals, Morocco eliminated Portugal (1-0), while France punched its ticket to the detriment of England (2-1).
The other semi-final will be between Argentina and Croatia tonight.
