Qatar and Jordanian Airlines will resume their flights to Libya this month

The Minister of Transportation of the National Unity Government, Muhammad Al-Shahoubi, confirmed the return of Qatari and Jordanian Airlines flights to and from Libya, starting this month.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba to follow up on a number of aviation-related files, Al-Shahoubi confirmed that discussions are ongoing with Saudi Airlines to resume its flights to and from Libya.

According to our government platform, the meeting discussed the timetable for implementing the passenger terminal at Tripoli International Airport, additional work for operation, and an inventory of the work carried out in the main project for implementing the airport.

In turn, the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Muhammad Shalibek, confirmed that the Civil Aviation Authority is working professionally with international organizations to implement international requirements for lifting the air embargo, and contracting with a number of international companies to supply and install navigational assistance systems and stations for air navigation centers, which will contribute to lifting the embargo.

For his part, Al-Dabaiba stressed during the meeting the necessity of providing the necessary equipment to local airports in accordance with the requirements of the Aviation Authority in order to facilitate the movement of citizens between Libyan cities.

Al-Dabaiba also directed the need to focus on completing the passenger terminal at Tripoli International Airport according to the approved timetable, and to begin contractual procedures to implement the main project to implement Tripoli International Airport, which has been stalled since 2010 AD, after reviewing the designs and technical studies.

Al-Dabaiba also called on the Civil Aviation Authority to communicate with relevant organizations to lift the ban on the Libyan state, and to work on opening new international flight destinations.
