The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar declared this Monday that an agreement has been reached to extend the truce between Israel and Hamas for two more days.

Qatar, along with Egypt, has been the key mediator in the current conflict between Israel and Hams. The announcement comes on the last day of a four-day truce between the opposing sides.

Hamas stated today that prepares a new list of hostages held in the Gaza Strip who could be released “to prolong the truce” with Israel, according to a statement from the Islamist movement.

The statement, which cites Osama Hamdana senior Hamas official, coincided with discussions about an extension of the ceasefire, which came into force on Friday for an initial period of four days and which includes exchanging hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
