The Qataris beat Honduras (1-0), a few days after a success against Guatemala.
Qatar, which is fine-tuning its preparation for the World Cup in Spain (November 20 – December 18), beat Honduras on Thursday (1-0), recording a second victory in a row after a success over Guatemala.
The host country will launch its World Cup on November 20 against Ecuador in Group A, which also includes the Netherlands and Senegal. Finishing in one of the first two places and thus qualifying for the round of 16 of his very first World Cup, at home, would be a success.
The 2019 Asian Cup winners’ last friendlies hadn’t been very encouraging, with defeats in September against Croatia’s Under-23 team (3-0) and Canada ( 2-0), as well as a draw against Chile (2-2).
But by winning against Guatemala on Sunday in Malaga (2-0) then Thursday against Honduras in Marbella (1-0), the Qatari selection, which still has to face Panama on November 5, still in Marbella, has consolidated its record before switching to the World Cup.
These last three preparation matches take place behind closed doors, without television broadcasting.
