/ The organizing committee of the Asian Football Cup announced on Thursday that the Iraqi national team striker, Ayman Hussein, topped the list of the tournament’s top scorers after the end of the round of 16.
The Iraqi national team player, Ayman Hussein, still holds the lead in the scorers’ list with six goals, despite the team’s exit from the tournament after losing to the Jordanian team with a score of 3-2.
While Ayman Hussein is chasing the Qatari national team striker Akram Afif, and the Japanese national team player Ayase Ueda, with four goals each.
The third place goes to three players: Ali Al-Dabbagh, a player on the Palestinian national team, Lee Kan-In, a player on the South Korean national team, and Mehdi Taremi, a player on the Iranian national team.
It is noteworthy that Ayman Hussein scored one goal against the Indonesian national team, two goals against the Japanese national team, two goals against the Vietnamese national team, and one goal against the Jordanian national team.
In addition, the management of the Qatari club Umm Salal honored Ayman Hussein, after the “great” levels he presented in the 2023 Asian Cup, and his leadership of the scorers’ list.
Hussein received a warm welcome from the management of his former club, Umm Salal, led by Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, the club’s president, who invited the Iraqi striker, praised him and honored him despite the Lions of Mesopotamia’s farewell to the tournament.
Al Thani presented a souvenir to Hussein, in the presence of a number of journalists, appreciating his prominent role in the Lions of Mesopotamia’s victories in the group stage, and his fierce competition with the continent’s stars for the top scorer spot, with 6 goals.
It is not clear whether Hussein will return to his former club, which he played for two seasons in the Qatar Stars League, or whether he is currently linked to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.
In a related context, the Iranian club Esteghlal Tehran has begun to approach the top scorer in Asia and Iraq, Ayman Hussein, to represent it next season.
The Iranian club seeks to acquire Hussein’s services in its upcoming participation in the AFC Champions League and strengthen the front line, following the impressive level Hussein presented in the Asian Cup.
It is noteworthy that Ayman Hussein is still in Doha despite the return of the Iraqi delegation to Baghdad yesterday, Wednesday, after the end of the Asian participation.
