(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, AUGUST 30 – National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has called a meeting at the White House with the French President’s diplomatic advisor, Emmanuel Bonne, the German Chancellery’s foreign and security policy advisor, Jens Ploetner, the British National Security Advisor, Tim Barrow, and the head of the Ukrainian President’s office, Andriy Yermak, “to discuss our strong and steadfast support for Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.” This was reported in a White House statement regarding the meeting held in Quad format. Sullivan reported “the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine and partners discussed the steps we are taking to strengthen Ukrainian forces on the battlefield, including through the provision of artillery, air defense and other critical capabilities.” Also discussed were “efforts to continue to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and Ukraine’s energy network” against the backdrop of Russia’s renewed air strikes, as well as “investments the United States and our allies are making in Ukraine’s defense industrial base to support its long-term security.” Also on the agenda were efforts “to generate support for a just and lasting peace based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity following the Ukrainian peace summit in Switzerland.” After the meeting, Sullivan met with Yermak “to discuss the ironclad partnership between the United States and Ukraine, including through support for the Ukrainian military and Ukraine’s economic reconstruction.” (ANSA).
