Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader requested the students to return to class following the status quo imposed by the Appellate Division for four weeks on the High Court’s decision to cancel the freedom fighter quota system. At the same time, he requested to avoid programs that cause suffering to people.
Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader made this request in a press conference at Awami League President’s political office in Dhanmondi on Wednesday (July 10).
Obaidul Quader said that the quota reform will be resolved through the final hearing in the country’s highest court in the first week of next August.
The bridge minister said that the court has issued a four-week stay on quota reform. He also urged the students to return to their respective classes. Besides, he instructed the heads of the educational institutions to ensure a fair environment.
General secretary of Awami League said that the decision of the court is final and expressed hope that the court will take a realistic decision.
Obaidul Quader said about the movement regarding the pension of university teachers, the teachers are also in touch. This problem will be solved soon.
Bridges Minister also said that confusion is being spread about the Prime Minister’s visit to China.
He said, Prime Minister’s daughter Saima Wazed Puthul is in Dhaka, she is a little sick. Besides, since all the programs of the Prime Minister in China are over, he will leave for Dhaka instead of spending the night in Beijing.
Awami League organizing secretary BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain, Afzal Hossain, office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and other central Awami League leaders were present in the press conference.
