San Diego According to a media report, Qualcomm is considering returning to the server market with a new chip. The US semiconductor maker’s goal is to reduce its dependence on the smartphone market, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the plan. The project is related to Qualcomm’s acquisition of chipmaker Nuvia last year.

In addition, the group is already looking for customers for the new product and Amazon’s cloud department has already agreed to take a look at the offer, the report said. Qualcomm shares rose almost 3 percent after the announcement. Amazon confirmed to Reuters that the company had agreed to review the offer. Qualcomm declined to comment, referring to its March 2021 press release on the Nuvia deal.
