Received four out of four! The French team had a perfect, clinical, if not brilliant start to the qualifying campaign on the road to Euro 2024. Now it’s time for a few weeks of vacation, the day after the victory against Greece (1-0) this Monday evening.

But beware, the next gathering will soon arrive. From September, the objective will be to get even closer to the continental tournament, scheduled just before the Paris Games. The reception of Ireland, on September 7 at the Parc des Princes, could already prove to be crucial. A success and the Blues would then be almost certain to participate in the European Championship in Germany (June 14 – July 14).

They would indeed have fifteen points, and could only be joined by the third if they only chain heavy defeats. The second direct ticket in Group B is currently being played between Greece (6 points in 3 games), the Netherlands (3 points in 2 games) and Ireland (3 points in 3 games). In September, France will also face Germany (12) in a friendly gala match. The match will be played at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, known for its huge yellow wall.

A friendly against Scotland on October 17 in Lille

Then will come autumn with the last three group matches. First in Amsterdam against the Oranje (October 13), interspersed with a friendly in Lille against Scotland (October 17), then at home, this time, in principle, at the Stade de France, against Gibraltar (November 18 ), before a final match in Greece (November 21).

As you will have noticed, the Stade de France will be somewhat deserted in the coming months. The holding of the Rugby World Cup (September 8-October 28, 2023) and the preparatory work for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (July 26 to August 11 then August 28 to September 8), oblige the various selections to abandon the Stade de France for evolve in the provinces.

The friendly matches scheduled for March and June will be dispatched between Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux and Metz, against opponents yet to be determined.
