Member of the technical staff of the Olympic team, Nizar Ashraf, confirmed after the victory over his Indonesian counterpart and snatching the qualification ticket to the Paris Olympics (2024), that “the dream of the past year and a half, through training camps and matches, is to qualify for the finals, and the dream has come true now, thank God.”
Ashraf said in a statement to the (INA): “Qualifying for Paris came through the efforts of everyone, including players, medical personnel, coaches, and the Football Association, in addition to the great support of the fans, expressing his great respect for the team’s critical opinions, since their goal was evaluation.”
For his part, assistant coach Qusay Munir told (INA): “Congratulations to the Iraqi people for this achievement, because the tournament was not easy and we had little information about the participating teams, but we were surprised to see teams at a high level, and the best evidence is that the Indonesian team appeared for the first time at a distinguished level. We tried to stay away from pressure and focus on the main goal, which is reaching Paris.”
It is noteworthy that our Olympic team was able to snatch the qualification ticket to the Paris Olympics after defeating its Indonesian counterpart with two goals to one, scored by Zaid Tahseen and Ali Jassim.
