Real Madrid became the team with the most European Super Cups in history as they beat Atalanta 2-0 in the final in Warsaw to make it six trophies. The goals for the holders of the Champions League were scored by Valverde (59′), Bape (68′).
Without many phases in the first half, however the score could have been opened on two occasions, one for each team. In the 26th minute, on De Roon’s cross, Militao tried to head away, sending the ball to the crossbar of Courtois. In the stoppage time of the half (45+1′) it was Real’s turn, when Vinicius found Rodrigo in the area but the latter’s shot had the same outcome: the crossbar.
In the 47th minute, Courtois performed an amazing intervention on Pasalic’s header, with Atalanta missing a very big chance to take the lead, but from that point on, the final became a “case” for Real. In the 59th minute with a fantastic effort and assist from Vinicius, Valverde opened the scoring, while in the 68th minute from a pass by the top-ranked Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0, combining his debut in Madrid with a goal.
Thus, Real got the 6th Super Cup surpassing Milan and Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti reached 5 surpassing Pep Guardiola, while Luka Modric became at the age of 39 the Real player with the most trophies: 27!
