Several royals attended an Olympic gala in Paris. Queen Mary and Co. appeared in these robes on the eve of the Olympic Games.

On Friday, July 26, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris. One day beforehand, some royals celebrated the upcoming start of the sporting event. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) hosted an event in the Louvre to which the nobility from Denmark, Spain and other countries were invited.

Queen Mary and King Frederik made their way to the French capital. Together they inaugurated a Danish Olympic pavilion in Paris. To match the color of the opening ribbon that the royal cut, she appeared for the occasion in fiery red. Her trouser suit reached down to the floor and was pleated at the neckline. Frederik wore a classic suit in dark blue.

The two later went to the Louvre in their outfits, where they may have met Prince Albert II and his wife Charlène, among others. The Monegasques also attended the gala dinner in the world-famous Paris art museum on Thursday evening. They were received by IOC President Thomas Bach and his wife Claudia. Unlike Queen Mary, Charlène appeared in all black, combining a dark top with ruffle details with matching trousers. Her husband did like Denmark’s king and appeared in a blue suit.

King Willem-Alexander also joined in visually. He also wore a classic dark outfit and, like Prince Albert II and Charlène, posed with Claudia and Thomas Bach in front of the glass pyramids of the Louvre. He appeared in Paris without his wife Máxima.

Belgium’s King Philippe came accompanied by his wife Queen Mathilde. Just like Queen Mary, she slipped into a floor-length pantsuit for the gala dinner, but opted for the color white and complemented the look with a transparent train.

Queen Letizia, on the other hand, was completely different. She didn’t wear trousers, but wore a light skirt with striking embroidery and a matching black top at the side of her husband, King Felipe VI.

Instead, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI defied the rumors with joint appearances. Before their trip to Paris in mid-July, they attended the Mariano Awards in Madrid. The awards ceremony honors scientific and innovative initiatives in Spain. The King and Queen presented several awards and applauded the winners on stage.
