jpnn.comJAKARTA – Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Special Committee Wisnu Wijaya said that his party is opening up the option of involving law enforcement officers, such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in responding to the alleged irregularities in the additional Hajj quota.

“The DPR Hajj Special Committee is opening up the option of working together with law enforcement officers, such as the National Police or the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),” said the PKS Faction legislator in his press statement, Saturday (7/9).

He said the option of involving law enforcement emerged after internal discussions in the special committee and developments in the investigation into the implementation of the Hajj.

“The involvement of law enforcement officers is expected to clarify various indications of irregularities that have been found,” Wisnu continued.

However, the special committee still feels that the Ministry of Religion’s attitude has been uncooperative during the investigation process into the alleged misappropriation of the additional Hajj quota.

For example, Ministry of Religion officials have failed to attend the special committee’s summons, allegations of providing false information or documents by previous witnesses, and allegations of pressure.

“The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ uncooperative attitude can also be interpreted as a form of harassment against the good intentions of the DPR which wants to resolve the chaos of alleged irregularities in the additional Hajj quota in a persuasive manner,” said Wisnu.

He said the actions taken by the Ministry of Religion strengthened the DPR’s decision to involve law enforcement officers in responding to alleged irregularities in the additional Hajj quota.
