Sebastián Yunda and his uncle, César Yunda Pancho, were called to trial for the crime of illicit association. Sebastián allegedly took advantage of his relations with the Municipality of Quito while his father, Jorge Yunda, was mayor.
This is not the first time that the son of the former mayor of Quito Jorge Yunda has managed to prevent the trial from being held. He already did so in January and is doing it again six months later. The Prosecutor’s theory on the crime of Sebastián Yunda
On April 21, 2023, Sebastián Yunda returned to Ecuador. The young founder of the musical band 4AM had been a fugitive in Argentina since February 2021. In that year, The Ecuadorian justice system wanted him as one of the main suspects in an alleged illicit associationThe Prosecutor’s Office maintains that Yunda Jr. used relatives and friends within the Municipality, when his father was Mayor, and would have managed contracts linked to security.
Upon his arrival, Sebastián Yunda spoke to LA HORA and said he is happy to be with his family after two years. He also said he is innocent.
He avoided prison by paying $20,000
Yunda Jr. was able to return to the country without being arrested, despite the preventive detention order against him. This was stated by Judge Máximo Ortega, when he certified that Yunda paid the $20,000 bail that had been imposed on him.
