Qualcomm has announced Wireless AR Smart Viewer, The company’s new and up-to-date reference design for the augmented reality glasses that it develops based on the Snapdragon XR2 platform, designed to be the basis for augmented reality glasses from other manufacturers that will be based on them.

Qualcomm’s new Wireless AR Smart Viewer glasses are coming to replace the design of the company’s previous AR Smart Viewer glasses, with a transition to a simpler wireless configuration based on the Snapdragon XR2 chip introduced back in 2019.

Qualcomm’s new Wireless AR Smart Viewer glasses come with a pair of 0.49-inch micro-OLED screens, 1080p resolution, with a refresh frequency of 90Hz, when the company managed to reduce the lens thickness from 14.2 mm in the previous wired version to 9.5mm in the new generation, when they weigh only 115 grams.

In the field of wireless connection, the glasses will use Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 chip, which provides a WiFi 6 / 6E connection and Bluetooth 5.3 and allows, according to the company, a delay time of less than 3 ms when connected to the mobile device.

One possible weakness in the new design is the battery life of the glasses, which the company did not address, but it was noted that they come with a built-in 650mAh battery.
