Then I would suggest that the party refrain from joining the coalition and allow Gabriel Landsbergis to lead them. If Paluckas becomes prime minister, this will likely be the last social democratic election in which they achieve any significant results. G. Paluckas lacks experience and is demonstrably incapable of managing the country and its economy.
“If the current president believes that G. Paluckas is suitable for the position of prime minister, it fills me with deep sadness,” the politician stated.
As previously announced in July, President Gitanas Nausėda identified G. Paluckas as his preferred candidate for prime minister. The party chair, Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, also endorsed this choice.
G. Paluckas himself has already expressed his readiness to take office should his party win the upcoming Seimas elections in the fall.
R. Karbauskis previously criticized the possibility of G. Paluckas becoming prime minister, calling the choice “very weak.” He had previously suggested that the Social Democratic Party had stronger candidates for the position. Now, he has reversed his position.
“He is a very weak politician. If this is their only candidate for prime minister, it is a sign of weakness. It’s not surprising that they are hesitant to support him. Their candidates for the Seimas elections are also weak ” R. Karbauskis argued.
R. Karbauskis expressed doubt that the Social Democrats can win the upcoming elections, suggesting that the party may support conservative or liberal candidates in the second round of single-mandate constituencies.
The Seimas elections are scheduled for October 13 this year.
