The incident occurred early Saturday evening in the Revúca district. Emergency responders are on site, working to address the situation and clear the roadway. What caused the accident remains unknown, but authorities confirm that people were injured in the crash. Initial reports indicate a head-on collision, though this has not been officially confirmed. The vehicles involved were a silver Škoda Octavia and a black volkswagen Golf. Both cars sustained critically important front-end damage.
Ján Ostrihoň from the operations center of the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service (HaZZ) in Banská Bystrica stated, “People were injured in the traffic accident. four members of the emergency services on two pieces of equipment intervene on the spot.” The extent of the injuries has not been released at this time, but sources at the scene report that at least one individual was extricated from a vehicle by firefighters.As of 9:30 PM local time, paramedics were transporting three injured individuals to a hospital in Banská Bystrica.
The R2 expressway reopened to single-lane traffic at approximately 11:00 PM Saturday after crews cleared debris and ensured the roadway was safe. The examination into the cause of the accident is ongoing, with police focusing on potential factors such as speeding, distracted driving, or adverse weather conditions. no fatalities were reported.
