Rabat: ANOC holds its ordinary general meeting

Furthermore, Mr. Sadiki noted the association’s involvement in many important projects within the framework of a partnership with the ministry, in particular the genetic improvement program, which aims to preserve the national sheep and goat breeds and increase their production capacity, the operation of identifying sheep and goat heads intended for slaughter on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, the operation of setting up temporary markets for the sale of livestock in the regions of the Kingdom, in addition to the project of creating a training institute for livestock professions and projects and programs.

As part of the fight against the difficult climatic conditions that our country has experienced in recent years, the minister recalled the exceptional program implemented to support farmers and breeders.

With a budget of 5 billion dirhams, mainly including the acquisition of 15.12 million quintals of subsidized barley, approximately 8.35 million quintals of subsidized barley were distributed to 522,000 beneficiaries, with the acquisition of 6 million quintals of subsidized compound feed, of which 3.26 million quintals, or 54%, were distributed to 103,000 beneficiaries, according to the press release.

Regarding livestock watering, a financial envelope of 61 million dirhams was allocated for the construction of 72 water points, the rehabilitation of 22 water points, the acquisition of 2,325 flexible tanker trucks and the acquisition of 4 tanker trucks, continues the same source, noting that this program also covers prevention and animal health campaigns for the national livestock, supervised by the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA).

With regard to improving the conditions of marketing, distribution and quality of animal products, 17 slaughterhouses approved by ONSSA have been modernized, including 10 municipal slaughterhouses and 7 private slaughterhouses.

At the end of the assembly’s work, the Minister praised the role played by the Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders, for more than four decades serving breeders and defending their interests, congratulating the sheep and goat breeders for the level of results recorded and their effective contribution to the development programs of this sector, which has placed the Association in the position of main partner for the development of the sheep and goat sector.

The government official also called on everyone to give more to contribute to achieving the objectives of the Generation Green strategy and thanked the ANOC actors for their professionalism and their effective role in several activities and operations supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of the Association at the regional level and members of the Board of Directors.
