The envoy to the European Union Levi Matusov He was invited last Friday to the annual conference with the representatives of the religions of the EPP faction, the largest faction in the European Parliament. This year the conference dealt with the activities of religions in Ukraine in the shadow of the war that has already claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

The event took place this year in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and the organizers provided kosher food for Rabbi Matusov, who came as a representative of the “Federation of Jewish Communities in Ukraine” (FJCU) in the European Union. Members of Parliament asked to know about the work of the federation, which unites the 180 Jewish communities in Ukraine.

Rabbi Matusov spoke about the dedication of the rabbis who are sending messengers for their communities and the people of their city, the distribution of tens of thousands of food and medicine packages, the assistance in rescuing thousands of Jews from the cities on the front line and the great preparations for the Hanukkah holiday in all the cities, with the cooperation of Chabad messengers.

“In everything related to saving lives, we must not stand by and act actively and we must learn from the Jewish communities what mutual guarantee is even in this difficult time,” said Rabbi Matusov to those present – who cheered his words.

A senior official in the party said following the rabbi’s speech: “We were happy to hear about the Federation’s help to the Jewish communities in Ukraine. We greatly appreciate your dedication, and are happy for every person saved every day thanks to this blessed activity. You are an example and an inspiration.”
