In Jerusalem, during Shabbat, the chasidic genius Rabbi Shnior Zalman Deitch zt’l, head of the Yeshivat ‘Anshi Makam’, and one of the well-known figures in the city’s Kerem Avraham and Geula neighborhood, passed away.

Rabbi Shneor Zalman was born to his father, Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Deitsch ztzel, who was one of the well-known men of kindness in Jerusalem, and when he reached his prime he married his wife, Rabbi Israel Shimon Rabinowitz ztzel, who was one of the leaders of the Bayan Hasidim, together they established their home and family to glory.

In his lifetime, many people knew Rabbi Schnior Zalman as a very kind man who cared for many, taught the Torah, besides being a deeply rooted Hasidic figure who made every heart and soul happy. Together with his brother Rabbi Yosef, he founded the charity organization ‘Hasdi Yosef’ in memory of their father, an organization that took care of the needs of many families.

A few days ago, the deceased felt ill, and after being taken to the hospital, his condition deteriorated due to an infection that spread throughout his body, until he returned his soul to its creator during Shabbat, news that shocked his family and his many acquaintances.

At his death, he left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, including his sons Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak, the well-known educator Rabbi Mattithyo, the important patriarchs Rabbi Yosef, Rabbi Yehoshua, and Rabbi Shimon, sons-in-law, and his influential brother Rabbi Chaim Shalom Deitch and Rabbi Yosef, grandchildren and descendants who follow the path of Torah and Hasidism.

His funeral will take place this evening, Holy Shabbat, at 10:30 PM from the Beit Midrash, Mishkan Yosef, on Yoel Street, through the ‘People of Class’ Yeshiva, on Sonnenfeld Street, to the Mount of Olives where he will be buried.

May his soul be bundled in the bundle of life
