Radio signal coming to Earth from a distance of 3 billion light years | Scientists Detect Mysterious Radio Signals Coming From Space

by time news

Scientists have discovered a strange radio signal coming from another galaxy in the universe, about 3 billion light years away from Earth.

Scientists say this is the second time such a radio signal has come to Earth from another galaxy. Scientists refer to this radio signal as FRB 20190520B. Following this, scientists found that between April 2020 and September 2020, about 75 eruptions occurred from this signal.

Using a Very Large Array (VLA) located in central New Mexico, the researchers confirmed a consistently weak radio signal between eruptions.

Scientists also say that the FRB 20190520B radio signal is compatible with the FRB 12110 radio signal received in 2016. Scientists have not explained what causes these radio signals. However, scientists say that these signals come from the dense material emitted by the supernova explosion left behind the neutron star.

University of West Virginia professors are also involved in further research on the FRB signal. Nature, a leading science magazine, says that many more questions have been raised about the FRB signal, and that scientists are working to find answers.
