After the big Eddie victory in the Clasico has dissipated, Barcelona continue to build next season. According to a report published this morning (Sunday) in “Sport”, Barcelona have reached an agreement with Rafinha on a joint negotiation strategy that will make Leeds accept its offer and release the striker.
According to the report, the agreement was signed with Rafinha’s agent, Deco, which also agreed on wage terms. Rafinha will commit to five seasons at Barcelona, and will receive varying bonuses depending on the goals he achieves alongside the base salary. This is, in fact, the same formula that Barcelona used with the other signings it has already closed: Cesar Espilicauta, Andreas Christensen and Frank Cassie. Even with Ajax defender Nussair Mazrawi, Barça will try to reach a similar agreement.
Rafinha himself gives priority to Xavi’s project in Barcelona, although he holds offers from Liverpool and Bayern Munich – which will even guarantee a higher salary that Barça will not be able to compare. The Brazilian has already spoken with the heads of Barcelona and given his doctrine, and in response he was told that with Osman Dembele leaving he will get a leading role in the team.
The next step in the joint plan is to persuade Leeds to release Rafinha. The group is already aware of his desire to leave even though he holds a contract until June 2024, recalling his many refusals to renew his contract. At the same time, Deco continues to pressure Leeds’ heads to accept Barça’s offer. As you may recall, Leeds has already turned down a single offer of € 35 million from the Blaugrana.
