“I love my fans and they love me and do not understand what the wrong is what happened,” Alama said, emphasizing his affection for his audience and expressing his belief that the situation was misinterpreted. Kamel, in a statement, acknowledged the widespread circulation of the image and characterized the behavior depicted as “unprofessional.” He stressed the importance of respecting Egyptian “customs and traditions,” stating that a review and accountability were necessary. However, Kamel also noted that the incident “does not reduce the technical value of Ragheb Alama.”
According to Kamel, Alama contacted the union and pledged his full cooperation, including attending the investigation to resolve the matter. The Musicians Syndicate’s decision underscores the sensitivity surrounding public displays of affection and the importance of adhering to cultural norms within Egypt.
