Mumbai: Former opener Aakash Chopra has questioned the appointment of Ajinkya Rahane as the interim captain of the Indian Test cricket team. Chopra said Rahane was captained from a place where he was unlikely to get a place in the team. Rahane was appointed to lead India in the first Test against New Zealand.
‘The selectors chose Rahane as their captain. But the truth is that if the last Test against England had taken place, Rahane’s place in the team would have been questioned. Rahane’s average has been declining for the past two years. Rahane’s batting average has never slowed down so much.
