New Delhi: From Kolkata to Maharashtra, protests are being held across the country against the atrocities being committed against the daughters of the country. The public was still angry about the rape and murder of a lady doctor in Kolkata, and in the meantime, a shocking news came from Maharashtra. A case of a heinous act against two four-year-old girls has come to light in a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reacted to this case of Badlapur and questioned the administration.

Rahul Gandhi asked the question by tweeting

He tweeted that after West Bengal, UP, Bihar, the shameful crimes against daughters in Maharashtra also force us to think where are we heading as a society? After the crime against two innocent girls in Badlapur, the first step to get them justice was not taken until the public came out on the streets pleading for justice. Will we now have to protest to even register an FIR? Why has it become so difficult for the victims to even go to the police station?

‘Justice is not dependent on the will of the administration’

Rahul Gandhi further wrote that more efforts are made to hide crime than to provide justice, the biggest victims of which are women and people from weaker sections. Not registering an FIR not only discourages the victims but also encourages the criminals. All governments, citizens and political parties will have to seriously think about what steps should be taken to provide a safe environment to women in society. Justice is the right of every citizen, it cannot be made ‘dependent on the will’ of the police and administration.

Let us tell you that Congress’ Mumbai unit president Varsha Gaikwad led the protest outside the state secretariat ministry regarding the Badlapur incident. Wadettiwar and some other Congress leaders were also present during the protest. Holding placards outside the ministry gate, Congress leaders and workers raised slogans against the government for the delay in filing an FIR.
