Widespread trolling on social media regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi holding the hand of actress and model Poonam Kaur during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana. Poonam Kaur came to the scene with an explanation after the taunts and obscene comments were over. Poonam explained that Rahul, who was with her, grabbed her hand when she was about to fall down while walking.

The picture of Rahul Gandhi participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra holding Poonam Kaur’s hand was widely shared by BJP leaders and others on social media. BJP leader Preity Gandhi also shared the picture with the caption ‘Following the path of great grandfather’. In response to this tweet, Poonam Kaur responded to all the criticism.

‘It’s not at all unusual for someone like you. You must have heard the Prime Minister himself talking about women’s power. He grabbed my hand when I was about to fall down’ – Poonam noted.

The Congress leadership also came out with severe criticism against Preeti and others. Senior leader Jairam Ramesh pointed out that ‘Preeti Gandhi’s mind is completely perverted’. Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinath stated that ‘Rahul Gandhi is on a mission to unite the country following the footsteps of his great grandfather’. ‘You need treatment. Or your disturbed mental state will harm your family members and friends,’ Pawan Khera noted.

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi also came out with severe criticism against the BJP leader. “Women walking shoulder to shoulder and holding hands with men to strengthen and move this country forward is not the fulfillment of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s dream alone. This is the dream that Baba Sahib Ambedkar and other freedom fighters had for India.’ – Priyanka Chaturvedi noted.

Congress MP Jyotimani’s response was that Preeti Gandhi is a victim of an ideology that degrades women to the worst level. “Rahul Gandhi’s action against this so-called RSS ideology is to save people like you from the depths of hatred. Come and join us in this walk for a day. You will get well’ – Jyotimani noted.
