It is not without reason that people call it rainwater nectar. Apart from being used to recharge or store groundwater, rainwater can be used in many other ways.
You must have heard many times that rainwater is nectar, but a young man from Gujarat proved that fact. Rahul Kacha of Surat is not only saving rainwater but also earning money from it. In the year 2021, he came up with this great idea and today he is storing, filtering and bottling rainwater and delivering it to 150 people.
Rahul says, “I knew the importance of rainwater from what I had read. So I was the first person to think of drinking rainwater in my house. Then after that I felt that there would be many people like me who would like to drink the rain but might not have decided about it.” While Rahul was making arrangements for himself to drink rainwater, he was also thinking of starting a business. Motivated by his own need, he began this work.
But the beginning was not so easy. His financial condition was not such that he could afford the huge cost of building the tank himself. So he met some people who could invest in his idea. Today they have one 2 lakh liter storage tank and one 1 lakh liter storage tank. It cost him Rs 35 lakh to build the two tanks.
Rahul, who has always been aware of rainwater, started spreading awareness about rainwater to expand his business. For this he had to meet people where he talked about rainwater, went to seminars and then did social media marketing.
Today Rahul is delivering rainwater to about 150 houses around Surat for drinking. Not only that, he is helping people make their own rainwater collection system. How are you using rainwater?
