A rape case accused MLA,Rahul Mangoothil, has been evading authorities for six days, prompting a multi-state investigation and raising questions about potential assistance from within the political landscape. The case has unfolded across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, with authorities piecing together a complex trail of movements and alleged cover-ups.
The investigation gained a bizarre turn with initial reports stating that Rahul Mangoothil was found dead, having “drowned in the mango tree” before police could reach a resort in Bagalur. However, this claim appears to be unsubstantiated, as the MLA remains a fugitive.
Absconding MLA’s Route and Associates
According to reports, Mangoothil arrived at a resort in Bagalur, on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border, on Sunday and subsequently entered Karnataka. Law enforcement believes the MLA is actively changing vehicles to avoid detection. A court is scheduled to hear his anticipatory bail plea on Wednesday.
Investigators have traced Mangoothil’s movements after leaving palakkad on Thursday evening. He reportedly traveled directly to Pollachi and then onward to coimbatore, circumventing major highways by crossing the district border via Koznjambara. A key figure accompanying the MLA is Joby Joseph, the second accused in the case, who is allegedly assuring Mangoothil will not return to Palakkad.
Actress’s car and Political Allegations
A notable development in the case centers around a red Polo car used by Mangoothil while fleeing Palakkad. The investigation team confirmed the vehicle belongs to a film actress who previously inaugurated a housing project spearheaded by the MLA. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the car to Mangoothil and plan to question the actress in Bangalore.
The car was reportedly kept at the residence of a senior Congress leader in Palakkad for two days, prompting speculation about potential assistance in Mangoothil’s escape. This has fueled allegations from the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) that senior congress leaders are actively helping the MLA remain hidden. C Chandran, KPCC General Secretary, has vehemently denied these claims.
Evidence of Coercion and Trauma
Police in Thiruvananthapuram have been gathering statements from the complainant’s friends, uncovering disturbing evidence related to the alleged crime. Investigators have collected evidence of both an abortion and threats made by Mangoothil towards the woman in Mangkoot. Frie
