Roberto Sergio would not have suspended ‘Noos’ after the latest viewing figures. According to what Adnkronos learned, the CEO of Rai was unaware of the decision and jumped out of his chair when he found out. On the seventh floor of Viale Mazzini, Sergio reportedly reiterated to everyone “his opposition to choices that force Rai to pursue ‘only’ audience ratings”.
The Rai CEO has, in fact, reiterated on several occasions – the latest during the presentation of the new Rai schedules in Naples – how the logic of public service is different from that of private television. According to what has been learned, after hearing about the postponement of the program hosted by Alberto Angela, Sergio repeatedly told his team “that the company should be pleased with a 5% rating for a program like ‘Noos'”.
The suspension of the broadcast was explained in a statement by Rai itself, which claims to have made the decision “to protect and best enhance an excellent product, which represents a unique offering in the Italian television landscape and is a pride of public service, thanks to the passion, the absolutely high-quality dissemination capability, and the professionalism of Alberto Angela”, avoiding a direct clash with the record ratings of ‘Temptation Island’.
