Climate activists brought Frankfurt Airport to a standstill with a sticker campaign. Further disruptions followed. Around two weeks later, the police struck.
After disruptive actions at several airports in Germany, the police are searching the homes of members of the climate group Letzte Generation in Berlin. A police spokesman told the German Press Agency that this was the case. According to Letzte Generation, searches are also taking place in Freiburg, Halle, Leipzig and Mannheim.
The climate group announced that apartments belonging to “peaceful protesters” were searched and DNA samples taken in eight locations in Germany. The police “stormed” the rooms at 6:30 a.m. The measures were taken “on the intention and at the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt/Main,” said the Berlin police spokesman. He did not provide any further details. The spokesman referred to the public prosecutor’s office in Hesse.
According to the climate group, the eight members of the Last Generation who took part in a disruptive action at Frankfurt Airport on July 25th are affected by the raid. By sticking stickers on the runways, the climate demonstrators brought operations at the airport to a standstill for hours. According to earlier information from the police in Frankfurt, four men, two women and two non-binary people between the ages of 20 and 44 took part in the action.
