Approached by MAP, Ernestine Umbyiyie expressed her joy at being able to defend, through this initiative, the François Xavier Bagnoud association (FBX), Rwanda branch, which works for the integration of vulnerable groups, particularly women. and children in difficult situations, offering monitoring of their state of health and the level of their education.
The 4th year student at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat is on her fifth participation in the Sahraouiya Women’s Sports and Solidarity Raid.
Shortly before setting off for the last stage of this edition which ends Friday evening, Ernestine remembers with emotion her entire journey and her unique experience which continues to thrill her.
“This edition marks my fifth participation in a row in this ultimate women’s solidarity event that I cannot afford to miss,” she confided.
The Rwandan student, who embarked on this human adventure with her Ghanaian partner Rahinatu Wintina, looks back on her challenges which constitute a “unique opportunity to acquire new experiences and to surpass oneself”.
Having previously finished second on the podium of the 7th edition of the Raid Sahraouiya, Ernestine emphasized that she was able to demonstrate endurance during all the events of the competition thanks to the encouragement of her partner, nevertheless regretting the fact that she was “less prepared this year due to injury”.
The Rwandan participant wanted to thank, on this occasion, the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation for its support “until the last moments of this event”, while welcoming the support granted by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to sub-Saharan students “not only in terms of granting scholarships but also through support during our stay in Morocco”.
Four African pairs represent AMCI at this Raid: Admila Eneida Lopes (Cape Verde)/ Fanny Saïda Andriamialisoa (Madagascar) from the Association for the Development of Fonte Lima (APDFL), Sarah/Amrance Tanteliniaina from the Tsara Fo association for help from Madagascar, Leticia Zara Hassanaly/Catucia Chirianie Bemahefa defending the ASF association (Madagascar), and Ernestine Umbyiyie (Rwanda)/Rahinatu Wintina (Ghana) representing the FBX Ghana association.
They had already achieved remarkable performances by finishing in the top 10 of the first event of the Raid Sahraouiya 2024.
This exclusively female event, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, around the bay of Dakhla in a natural environment of high ecological value, includes, this year, around 50 pairs from different parts of the Kingdom, from Africa and Europe.
Over four days, participants in the Sahraouiya Solidarity Raid took part in various sporting activities, including a bootcamp, canoeing, orienteering, a night trail, mountain biking and abseiling.
