All areas of mainland Portugal will be under a warning from Friday due to rain and thunderstorms. The alerts are orange for four areas, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro, while the other 14 are yellow, as well as the island of Madeira.
According to the Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere of Portugal (IPMA), the areas of Faro and Beja will be from 3:00 am this Friday until 3:00 pm under an orange warning – the second most serious – due to the rain, and Setúbal and Lisbon have the same alert between 6:00 am and 12:00 pm. From then on, the alerts turn yellow.
IPMA issues the orange warning whenever there is a meteorological situation of moderate to high risk and the yellow warning when there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.

Also due to the rain, the yellow warning will be active throughout the entire territory of mainland Portugal from 3:00 am on Friday, and in Bragança and Guarda it will remain in force until 3:00 pm and in Braga, Coimbra , Aveiro, Viana do Castelo , Vila Real, Porto and Viseu until 9pm.
In the areas of Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Beja, Leiria, Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal and Évora, the yellow warning due to rain lasts until Saturday, in some cases until 9 pm.
In addition to the rain, the thunderstorm led the IPMA to issue a yellow warning from 3:00 am on Friday in the areas of Faro and Beja, extending until at least 3:00 pm. For this Thursday, the IPMA predicts periods of very cloudy skies, with the possibility of light showers, light wind and a drop in temperature, especially the minimum temperature.
