Even before the return of spring, scheduled for the weekend, Luxembourg will be under yellow alert this Thursday due to the possible occurrence of storms, MeteoLux announced in its usual bulletin.
The warning is in effect from 11am to 6pm across the country. According to the Luxembourg meteorological institute, there is “risk of formation of a short-lived thunderstorm line” that could bring hail (1cm) and precipitation levels of 15 liters per m2.
In addition, wind gusts are expected to range from 60 to 70 km/h and, in some parts of the country, reach 80 km/h.
Throughout this morning, moderate to heavy rain is expected at times. By the end of the afternoon, “the air mass will become unstable”, leading to the formation of clouds and the occurrence of thunderstorms.
Good weather returns to Luxembourg at the weekend
At this time, “persistent” gusts of wind and “moderate to heavy showers, mixed with hail in some places” are expected. From tonight onwards, the storm potential will decrease.
Thermometers will remain similar to the last few days, with minimum temperatures remaining between 8 and 10 degrees and maximum temperatures between 11 and 13 degrees.
