Karachi – 225 people died in heavy rains and floods in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The region is isolated as travel on national highways is disrupted. Train services were also disrupted as railway tracks were swept away by the floods. Heavy rain is expected to continue.
An attempt is now being made to rescue the trapped people with the help of the army in a helicopter. Thousands of people have become refugees in 26 districts. About 40,000 houses were destroyed.
