Soft Wheat Production in Jeopardy
Soft wheat production is facing significant challenges this year. According to official estimates from Agreste, the Ministry of Agriculture’s statistical arm, the harvest is expected to reach 26.3 million tons, a far cry from the 30 million tons anticipated earlier. These disappointing figures align with the projections of Argus Media, which predicts a meager production of 25.17 million tons, a staggering 10 million tons less than in 2023 and a 27% decline from the five-year average. This would mark the worst soft wheat harvest since 1983.
