Madurai-Madurai district has recorded more rainfall in September and October than in decades. An average rainfall of 23.48 mm was recorded the day before yesterday. It continued to rain since dawn yesterday morning.
Madurai’s average rainfall during the south-west monsoon season from June to September is 288.3 mm, and this year it received 502.18 mm, which filled most of the canals. Northeast Monsoon continues with drought.
Rainfall of 250 mm above the average (200.7 mm) till October 21 has been recorded. The overall average rainfall till December was 874.50 mm, currently exceeding 930 mm.
If it rains in November and December, Madurai will get more rain than last year (1090.80 mm).
