Playback singer Rajalakshmi is all set to expand online simple music lessons. New batches start on Vijayadashami. Anyone with a taste for music can join Rajalakshmi’s music lessons from anywhere, regardless of age. In June 2020, Gaika started online music classes under the name ‘Lalitasangeethapatham’. Now more than hundred students are studying music under Rajalakshmi. The singer started this music venture to bring back the lost simple songs and pass them on to the new generation. Rajalakshmi Manorama Online shares details about online classes.

‘This is the third Vijayadashami after the initiation of Lalitha Sangeet Patham. This time also new batches are about to start. I share all the steps in my musical life with my beloved Chitra Chechi (KS Chitra). Even when I decided to start online music classes like this, my sister was called. It was my sister who gave me confidence in my new beginning saying that knowledge increases as it is imparted. The beginning is with the blessing of sister. It was never expected that this initiative, which started during the boring days of the lockdown, would reach this point today. It was more accepted than expected. It still continues.

It can be said that the basis of Malayali music is simple songs. Our folk songs, movie songs, devotional songs, festival songs and Onam songs all belong to Lalitaganashakha. It seems that the children of the present generation have very few opportunities to learn simple songs. Ever since I started such a music class, many people from different parts of the world called for admission. More than 100 students are studying music under me now. It includes both children and adults. This is proof that music can be learned regardless of age if you have a taste for music. Along with simple songs, film songs and classical music are also taught.

As the severity of covid subsided, I started to get busy again with music shows. Meanwhile, the classes are actively going ahead. These music classes give me great experience both as a singer and as a music teacher. I am happy to see that the number of students and acceptance of lullabies is increasing with each passing year.

Parents and family members are very happy when students who are not very proficient in Malayalam sing Malayalam songs. They share that happiness with me. All preparations have been completed to start new batches on this Vijayadashami day. Feeling very satisfied and happy. Rajalakshmi said, “I pray that we will be able to actively carry forward the teaching of simple music in the years to come.”
