Udaipur: Udaipur police has busted a big counterfeit currency racket. Fake currency notes worth Rs 36 lakh 70 thousand have been recovered from this gang. All the fake currency notes are of Rs 500 denomination. Police said that the gang members were planning to kidnap a prominent doctor. But police nabbed them before the crime could take place. Police had received information that some criminals had come to Udaipur with a consignment of fake currency notes from Jaipur and Bhilwara. Police laid a trap and arrested three criminals from Madhya Pradesh who had come to receive fake currency notes worth Rs 10 lakh. During interrogation, it was found that the gang has links with Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Fake currency notes are linked to Madhya Pradesh
Police said that the kingpin of the gang is a man named Rahul who is a resident of Kanod. Rahul used to fool his family members by claiming that he was in the Merchant Navy. Rahul had recently brought fake notes worth Rs 36.70 lakh from Jaipur and Bhilwara. There was a plan to supply these notes further. On September 11, three people from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh reached Udaipur to get fake notes. Their names are Lakhan Malviya, Shahzad Khan and Sameer. They had to carry fake notes worth about Rs 18 lakh. After this, the three accused got a chance and fled with all the fake notes. Police raided Ratlam and caught the three accused.
Conspiracy to kidnap a doctor in Udaipur
Police said that the gang members were planning to kidnap a prominent doctor of Udaipur. But the police arrested them before the incident. District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said, we had received information that some miscreants have come to Udaipur with a consignment of fake notes from Jaipur and Bhilwara. Acting on this information, Pratap Nagar police station laid a trap and arrested three miscreants. During interrogation, it was found that these accused were planning to kidnap a prominent doctor of Udaipur, but they were arrested before they could execute the crime. Police station in-charge Bharat Yogi said, police detained Lakhan Malviya, Shahzad Khan and Sameer in Ratlam and recovered the notes. The accused were brought to Udaipur late at night. A total of 7 people associated with the gang have been arrested.
