Even after the OTT release, Chakochan is still in theatres

Amidst discussions and concerns that Malayalam films are under-crowded while big-budget non-language films are crowding the theaters, two films have come out about correcting that feeling. Those films are Nna Than Kes Kod, directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan and directed by Kunchacko Boban, and Thallumala, directed by Khalid Rahman, starring Tovino Thomas. Of these, Nna Than Case Kodu hit the theaters on August 11 and Thallumala on August 12. Even after the Onam releases, these films are still showing in the theaters for the fifth week.
Thallumala was the highest advance booking film in Malayalam cinema in recent times. The film got a lot of repeat audiences as the young audience flocked to it on the first few days. The producers had informed that Nna Than case has entered the 50 crore club by adding all kinds of income sources. The Chakochan starrer had 170 screens in the third week and 155 screens in the fourth week. The film is being screened in 29 screens in Kerala despite the Onam releases. Interestingly, the OTT release of the film also happened in the meantime. The movie started streaming on Hotstar on Thiruvona day.
Meanwhile, the global gross of Thallumala for one month has been released by the manufacturers. 71.36 crore was the figure. Thallumala screened in 164 screens in Kerala in the third week and 110 screens in the fourth week. Although the makers have not released the screen count for the fifth week, the film is showing in all the major centers in Kerala. Meanwhile, after a month of theatrical release, the film is gearing up for an OTT release. The streaming of the film will start on September 11 through Netflix.
