These days Rajkumar Rao is shooting his fifth film ‘Maalik’ in Lucknow, in which he will be seen doing action. The actor is ‘Rajkumar’ in name as well as in work. He did acting for the first time in the first class. Rajkumar Rao played the role of Bal Ram in the school Ramleela. After the blockbuster horror comedy ‘Stree 2’, these days she is in the news for another comedy film ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’. In the special meeting, he talked about many topics including fast-paced dialogues, wife’s letter writing etc.
Fast-paced dialogues are challenging to speak
The audience must have seen Rajkumar speaking fast-paced dialogues like ‘More…’, ‘Sukha Barjin…’, ‘Menu, Koi Shak…’ in films, which have become very popular. On this he says that I remember the dialogues quickly. However, these are two-page rhythms, which require hard work to prepare. With such dialogues you can also add many things from your side. Sometimes these are shot in one or two takes. It is also a lot of fun to watch the audience and I find it challenging as an artiste.
It takes a lot of effort to make you laugh
I always try to do something different. I choose different scripts so that I don’t get bored. I give myself time and do one film at a time. This year has been very good for me. The biopic of ‘Srikanth Bola’ was a different story. ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ was emotional. ‘Stree-2’ became a blockbuster. I consider comedy difficult. You can make people emotional, you can put a good song in the background with music, but to make them laugh, you have to work hard. For this, along with the writing, the actor should also be good.
buy chicken kurtas
I and Patralekhaa are good friends along with husband and wife. Because of this we laugh and joke. We give each other honest feedback regarding work. Like I really liked Patralekha’s work in the recent series. She is doing brilliantly as an artiste. I just want him to do more work. There are discussions between us about characters and stories. He likes Lucknowi kebab and biryani. She orders chicken kurta from me.
Credit for film making goes to the director
I believe that in film making, it is the director’s vision which everyone follows. For this reason all credit should go to the director. We just act. I love my work. I try to do justice to my work every time. Any character with which you get attached, some or the other things keep running in your mind because you are living that character for 13-14 hours a day. It is very difficult to remove it from the mind completely.
Used to go to Gurugram with grandmother to watch Ramlila.
My first acting performance was in school. It is about first class, during that time Ramlila used to be held in our school. My teacher had made me ‘Bal Ram’ for ‘Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhajaman…’. I grew up in a joint family, so all of us children used to go to Gurugram with my grandmother to watch Ramlila. It used to be mildly cold during October. We used to enjoy Ramlila while eating peanuts.
Everyone must have danced on Bhojpuri songs
I think everyone must have danced on Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh’s song ‘Lollipop Lagelu…’ because this song is played in almost every party. Worked with him in ‘Stree-2’ and we also spent a lot of time together in Lucknow. He has a big role in the song ‘Kati Raat…’ from my film ‘Stree 2’ which has become such a big hit. I want him to sing songs for the Hindi film industry in future also.
The film is 97% family and 3% super family.
‘Vicky will take that video of Vidya’ around 1997, when wedding albums were much talked about. In those days it was the era of CDs and cassettes. I am also a nineties kid. It was wonderful for me to relive that period. There will be a lot of comedy in the film, as we are saying that it is 97 percent family and three percent super family. Mahaparivarika means that grandparents can also watch this film. This is not inspired by the Hollywood sex tape but is an original story. Raj Shandilya has written and directed it.
