Rally Weiz: Day 1 canceled after storms

After three special stages, a catastrophic storm struck and forced the organizers to cancel the first day of the rally. It is currently planned to continue on Saturday morning as scheduled. Simon Wagner and Hermann Neubauer in charge at the same time.

Three special stages of the Weiz Rally took place today in hot summer temperatures before the weather showed its destructive side in seconds. Heavy rain and hurricane force gusts caused trees to snap, tents in the rally service zone to collapse and parking spaces to be flooded. Those crews that were not yet in service but were still on the way back from the third special stage were asked to land to safety immediately. It is clear that all the police, fire and rescue services went into disaster mode and were no longer available just for the rally.

Therefore, for the sake of general safety, the two special stages planned for today were canceled and the rally stopped.

The Weiz Rally is to start again tomorrow morning with SP 6 at 7:50 in. The three tests completed today (two in the Opel Electric Cup) are taken into account.
