DETROIT – Stellantis is bringing back the high-performance Ram 1500 SRT TRX, a V-8-powered pickup truck, as the company navigates shifting emissions regulations and a broader U.S. sales strategy.
the automaker announced Thursday that the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX will arrive in dealerships late in 2026 with a starting price around $100,000. The truck was originally produced for the 2021-2024 model years before being discontinued as Stellantis reduced its emphasis on V-8 engines.
Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter “Hellcat” engine, the TRX delivers 777 horsepower and 680 foot-pounds of torque. Stellantis touts it as the “fastest and most powerful production gas pickup truck in the world,” accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 118 mph.

“We had to push it to the next level,” said Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis during a recent event. “We’re super happy about this one coming back.”
Despite past relatively low sales due to its price tag, the TRX is considered a “halo” model for the Ram brand-a high-end vehicle designed to attract attention and potentially boost sales of other models. This strategy has proven successful for Kuniskis, especially with the company’s SRT performance vehicles.
The return of the TRX is part of a larger turnaround plan led by Kuniskis, who rejoined the automaker a year ago. Kuniskis plans to make more than 25 announcements through next year, including a return to NASCAR with mechanical bull rides and a new race truck, the revival of Hemi V-8 engines under a new “Symbol of Protest” banner, and the cancellation of a long-planned battery-electric version of the 1500 truck.
The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX will have a base price of $99,995, plus a mandatory $2,595 destination fee, bringing the total to $102,590. The original TRX started at $71,690 in 2020,including destination.
Ram also announced Thursday a new 6.7-liter Cummins high-output turbo diesel engine for its 2027 Ram Power Wagon heavy-duty truck, producing 430 horsepower and 1,075 foot-pounds of torque.
A Shift in Gears
These moves represent a departure from Stellantis’ previous plans to phase out gas V-8 vehicles amid stricter fuel economy regulations. However, those policies have been weakened or eliminated under the Trump administration.
Kuniskis stated that the policy changes woudl help sales, but he added that he “was going to do it anyway” regardless of the standards.

Jeep is also seeing a turnaround, with plans to resurrect the Cherokee midsize SUV and an all-electric Recon, inspired by the brand’s iconic Wrangler off-road SUV.
2025 could be the year Jeep reverses its sales decline and achieves its first U.S.sales increase since 2018,but Broderdorf cautioned in mid-December that the brand will be close to the goal,so the outcome remains uncertain.
Broderdorf emphasized that jeep remains profitable despite the pricing changes and lower sales during the turnaround plan. “We’re going to grow healthy,” he said. “I think this is what the brand needs. We’re going to grow.”
