Likewise, imports of poults reached 1.635 million birds at the end of October 2024 compared to 552,090 birds at the end of October 2023, a variation of +196%.
Concerning production, professionals recalled that the cumulative number of broiler-type day-old chicks placed at the end of October 2024 reached a quantity of 391.137 million compared to 370.946 million at the end of October 2023, i.e. a variation of +5%. .
The cumulative number of one-day-old poults (imports + national production) reached 14.306 million at the end of October 2024 compared to 12.265 million at the end of October 2023, i.e. a variation of +17%, reports the Federation.
The cumulative number of pullet placements reached 11.893 million at the end of October 2024 compared to 13.585 million at the end of October 2023, a variation of (-12%). This drop is explained by the extension of the duration of laying hen rearing which increased to 90 to 100 weeks at the end of October 2024 compared to 75 to 80 weeks previously.
In addition, the estimate of national production highlighted 735,000 tonnes of poultry meat at the end of October 2024 compared to 695,000 tonnes at the end of October 2023, i.e. a variation of +6% and 5.5 billion eggs for consumption at at the end of October 2024 compared to 5.3 billion at the end of October 2023, a variation of +4%.
Regarding the sales prices of poultry products on national markets, the inter-professional association affirmed that the determination of these is the result of strict mechanisms of supply and demand.

Also, since 2021, at the initiative of FISA, the Government has responded favorably to the request for reclassification of poultry farming as an agricultural sector, with the resulting tax advantages.
