Saudi Arabia has taken full control of trucks in major cities. Riyadh, Jeddah and the eastern provinces of Dammam, Dhahran and al-Khobar have been closed to trucks. The ban was announced by the Saudi General Traffic Department. The trucks were restricted because it was the month of Ramadan.
Trucks are banned from entering Riyadh from 8am to 12pm. Public service trucks, meanwhile, are allowed to enter from 12 noon to 12 p.m., officials said. All trucks will be allowed in from 12pm to 8am. The ban will be in effect from 7pm to 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

In Jeddah, trucks used for water purification have a full-time travel permit from Sunday to Thursday. Other trucks will not be allowed in the cities from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays there are restrictions from four to seven in the evening and from nine at night to three in the morning. In Dammam, traffic will be restricted on Dahran Al Khobar Roads from 9am to 11am and from 4pm to 6pm, Saudi officials said.
